Make a Wish

Reid Hamilton and Bay Radio Support the Moorside School "Make-a-Wish" Campaign.

For over 15 years Duncan has been a governor of Moorside Primary
School in Lancaster and for the last two years has been helping the
children who run the School Council. The children decided that they
would like to adopt a single charity to focus all the school's fundraising
activities for a year. As many of you will know, Reid Hamilton has
advertised on the local Bay Radio for some time, and when Duncan
learned that the station supports the Make-a-Wish Foundation, he
suggested that the children might also like to adopt this cause for a year.
The School Council agreed, and set a challenging target of £5,000 to
be raised over the year.

A meeting was arranged between the children and Bay Radio officials at the radio station and, as a result, it was agreed that Bay Radio would broadcast The Cookie Show (the programme Reid Hamilton sponsors) from Moorside School live on 27th February to launch the Make-a-Wish campaign.

All the children and staff paid to dress up for the day as who they would wish to be, and Duncan joined in too, appearing all day as "The Stig" from BBC's Top Gear.

As a result, over £1,400 was raised from this day, an amazing achievement by the children, and now a number of other events are being planned. Make-a-Wish grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses. Make-a-Wish was founded in the UK in June 1986 and, since then has granted over 5,300 wishes. At any given time, over 20,000 children in the UK are living with life-threatening conditions and the charity's aim is to grant 21 wishes a week by the year 2010. Whether a wish is to be a princess or a policeman for the day, own the latest computer equipment, meet a favourite celebrity or just enjoy some special time away from home with their family, a wish come true brings so much to a child's life and provides memories that last for a lifetime.

If you would care to support the Moorside children's Make-a-Wish campaign please send any donations to us at Reid Hamilton, payable to "Moorside School Fund".

Mark biking

Mark has become involved in an ambitious project to provide financial support to the 2008/9 Youth Athlete Sports Grant, which is sponsoring two young athletes who are hoping to represent Team GB at the 2012 Olympics.
In an unusual and innovative initiative Mark is one of four local cyclists undergoing training to take part in the toughest one day cycle event in Euope, the Dave Lloyd Mega-Challenge, a gruelling 125 mile event with over 5,000 metres of climbing. Accompanying Mark on the project is Dale Hollingdrake, proprietor of our client Business Services and Supplies of Lancaster, and they both have been training really hard.
Each participant must raise at least £1,000, and this money will go to support two young Olympic hopefuls, 19 year old cyclist Calum Nicholson and 14 year old triathlete Beau Smith.

If you'd like to support this sponsorship in any way please do give Mark a call and he'll be very pleased to tell
 you how you can help.
